On a rainy Sunday, I had a mummy and daughter day with my 9 year old. My daughter had requested a hands-on science museum, so after a bit of a panic googling, I was pleased to find Xplore! Science Discovery Centre, which looked perfect.

Based within the heart of Wrexham town, is the Xplore! Science Discovery Centre. It is a fantastic inside activity, at just £8.50 per person and you can stay all day.

The centre is a great space for families with young children. It is a massive room filled with over 100 interactive exhibits that are designed to challenge visitors' understanding of science in a fun and educational way.

When we arrived the reception staff was really helpful and friendly. He explained all about the centre and gave us a wristband for the Live Science Show which was on that day.

The Live Science show was a great extra. It was in a smaller room like a little theatre. The show was all about the digestive system. The scientist presented the information really clearly and in a fun and entertaining way. The children watching were all interacting with her and were eager to answer her questions. She got some children from the audience to assist her.

She did a number of experiments to show how each part of the digestive system works including how acid breaks up food and setting a fart on fire!!!

Back in the interactive room, there were so many things to look at & have a go at. There were stations about magnets, electric currents, body parts, magnification, forces, weather power, etc.

I would say it's one of the best hands-on science places I've been to for younger children. It almost felt like an area to play in, and the children didn't know they were learning from the things they were doing. There isnt lots of boards & information to read just lots to see and do.

Cafe at Xplore!

We stopped for a little while to have our lunch. I had brought a packed lunch and we ate this in an open area next to the cafe. This is also where you can cater if you have a birthday party at the centre. It would make a great party idea, there was one while we were therem the children had an explore of the centre followed by their party food.

There is also a cafe which is available to all, you don’t need a ticket to the exhibition area to enter.

We parked at a carpark which had a maximum stay of 3 hours. This was a good length of the time to spend at the centre. We could have stayed abit longer but we also felt like we had had a go on everything in that time.
