Twig or Treat is set within the woodland at Bewilderwood Cheshire. The trees are beautifully lit up with colourful lights and colourful decorations. It is super family friendly, and perfect for little ones as spooky and fun, but not scary! Please note the slides and Bridges are closed for this event
Chantelle and her family (my new DOMO Representatives) thought it was perfect for young children as it was like a fun trick or treat adventure and not scary at all.

As a brand new Days Out Meals Out representative, I was asked to go along to the press night of BeWILDerwood Cheshire’s brand new Halloween light trial - Twig Or Treat! As a family, we love BeWILDerwood so we jumped at the opportunity to dress up; wander around the magical, illuminated woods and uncover the mystery of who had stolen all the treats.
On arrival the first thing to do is make your paper lantern to help you navigate your way. They are simple to make even for tiny hands – and there is a lovely twiggle (staff member) to help. Speaking of twiggles, they are everywhere on the trail and are super helpful, just look for the bright green jackets.
Whilst you are waiting for your turn to enter the trail, there is the opportunity for photos and Minty the Crocklebog is on hand to entertain the children. As the time gets nearer she introduces to your first door and gets you to practice the magic words you need to shout to open the doors when you come to them – “TWIG OR TREAT”
The door opens and it’s simply beautiful - walking through colourful lights, twinkly decorations and disco balls in the flora, to head to the Storytelling stage to watch the new 10-minute show – “Twig or Treat Tales”. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but it’s here where you uncover who has been stealing all of the treats in BeWILDerwood.
On exiting the show, you arrive at the Munch Bar where you can choose from a collection of hot and cold drinks – including a pumpkin spiced latte. My girls opted for a delicious hot chocolate. The Munch Bar also serves a selection of snacks and sausage rolls. If you don’t fancy those, there is a burger van on site serving traditional fast food. You are not short of places to sit as there is a massive, tented eating area – so we sat here whilst we ate our cheesy chips, chips and curry and drank our hot chocolates.
Toilets are also here so might be worth a strategic stop if you’ve a young one
After the break, we set off again to find the doors for our Twig or Treat adventure. This is where the fun really began for us. Between each door, we were walking through the enchanting lights in the forest, dancing through bubbles and spinning our way through a magical pumpkin patch - being careful not to wake the sleeping slitherigrubs. Stopping for plenty of fantastic photo opportunities along the way.
There are five bright, colourful doors to “Twig Or Treat” at where you will meet five different BeWILDerwood characters who interact with you and decide whether you deserve a TWIG (trick) or a TREAT. I won’t give away too much – but at one of the doors expect to get a teeny bit wet . The characters are absolutely brilliant and hearing the children giggling at them was so cute. I probably shouldn’t have a favourite, but it was definitely the Thornyclod Spider.
Each character explains to the children that they can’t give them a sweet treat but they can collect one at the end of the trail.
When you get to the end of the trail another lovely twiggle will ask them for the passphrase and give the children their well deserved treat.
This isn’t like all the other Halloween light trails in the area. Its more cute, magical and fun and less skeletons and monsters. If you have younger children (0-10) I would definitely recommend it for a lovely evening out.
BeWILDerwood are encouraging everyone to dress up when visiting so get those witches hats and wizards wands at the ready and step into the magical lantern parade
