Magical Woodland at Christmas is a fantastic Christmas light trail in Cheshire. As it's over a smaller area, the lights feel more compact. The path weaves back and forth so you can see previous lights and the next set of lights at the same time. There are no areas of just darkness like other larger displays. The lights used are very imaginative and creative and create a great atmosphere as you walk around the woodland.
What makes Magical Woodland different from other trails is their characters dotted through the woods. My daughter and her friend were excited when we turned a corner and found themselves in Whoville. We found a real-life Cindy Lou who was so sweet talking to all the children individually. Further along the trail, we found The Grinch. He was so much fun, acting grumpy and funny at the same time. It was definitely one of my favourites of the evening. We also found Tinkerbell on a beautifully lit up pirate ship, Scrooge in his nightshirt moaning about Christmas and even Buddy, the Elf, who started dancing with my daughter, which put a massive smile on her face
Along the trail, there are plenty of photo ops to get those special memories from your visit. Including the classic tunnel of lights.
The Magical Woodland always has its resistant owls on show. We enjoy seeing these each time we visit as they are fascinating creatures.
Towards the end there was a small stage with seating & a cute little show with Santa and an Elf. This runs throughout the evening in intervals, and right at the end, you can meet Mrs Claus, who shares heartwarming tales with all the visitors!
🍔 "Grub in the Woods" is at the end of the trail. There was a good choice of food, including burgers, hot dogs, chips and nachos, or a stick loaded with marshmallows to toast on the open firepits. Hot and cold drinks were also available. We got some luxury hot chocolate and toasted some marshmallows. There are lots more tables and chairs since last year.
With unlimited opportunities to re explore your favourite areas you can stay for as long as you like! We really took advantage of this and spent 2 hours walking around the light trail and enjoying some treats at the end.
The path was nice and dry, so trainers were fine. It's also very suitable for pushchairs. The route is about 1 mile long.
