Teggs Nose Walk in Macclesfield
Head out of the car park and turn left

This walk starts from the Visitors Centre and car park off Old Buxton Road. At the car park entrance, turn left to follow the path which runs parallel to the main road. After a short distance pass through a stile and turn left to go up the rugged steps and carry on uphill towards the old quarry and the quarry equipment display, before you reach the quarry area there are good views to your left looking across towards Macclesfield Forest.

Carry on along the path heading around the hillside, where there are more great views across Macclesfield Forest and Tegg’s Nose. You can see the reservoir down below, which is where you aiming to walk to.

Great views over Macclesfield

Look for a path on the left through a thin gateway, down a few rocky steps and then left again and head downhill towards Tegg’s Nose Reservoir. This path is very narrow and slightly overgrown our walk in January but you can see the water down below so you can tell you're going in the right direction.

You follow the path as the hillside turns into woodland, and you finally reach the reservoir. Walk along the dam before turning left alongside the reservoir and then alongside Walker Barn Stream towards the north.

Stepping tones over the stream

There is a signed posted left turning that takes you to a point where you cross the stream using cute stepping stones. This is a beautiful spot on the walk, and my girls enjoyed making their way across the stones.

Carry on along this path until you reach Clough House Farm and bear left and uphill along Saddlers Way, which will take you back to the Visitor Centre. This last part of the walk is a wide, loose stone path which has quite an incline to it, so I'll forgive any walkers for taking a breather.

The cafe at the visitors centre is now re open and called The Nose Coffee. A cafe with indoor seating serving light lunches, cakes and drinks. This is a great asset to Teggs Nose as we love a hot chocolate and a cake after a walk.
