Tatton Park is a stand out National Trust site. It has so much to do that it can easily be a full family day out. There are 4 attractions to enjoy, which you can do as individually or get a combined entry ticket that allows you to see all of them in one day! There are over 1,000 acres of Parkland to explore, a farm with animals and woodland playground, a stunning Mansion and gorgeous gardens with a maze my girls always enjoy!

Parkland

Tatton Park’s ancient Parkland is just waiting to be explored. This beautiful corner of Cheshire has been home to deer herds since 1290. They wonder freely around the parkland and if tour lucky you will spot them. There are so many walking routes to take, weather it is around the mere or simply walking up and down the entrance road.

Mansion

The Mansion is a stunning building inside and out. Inside it is decorated with rich furnishings, and an important collection of paintings and books. The mansion houses one of the National Trust's finest libraries. Throughout the year Tatton Park host a number of exhibitions in the mansions. To make it more interesting for children they have a count the cats challenge as you go around. At Christmas the mansion is dressed amazingly. Each year with a different theme but each year you are blown away by the decorations and work that has gone into it.

Gardens

The 50 acres of landscaped gardens at Tatton Park are the product of almost 300 years of cultivation. Each successive owner from the Egerton family played a part in the evolution of the Gardens by seeking the expertise of the leading landscape architects of the time. The gardens are lovely to walk around and explore throughout the year as they are always changing. There is a maze which was created in 1795 which my girls always enjoy playing in and finding the middle. The Japanese Garden is stunning and in the summer the red and orange colours of the acer trees is breathtaking. There are lots of different parts of the garden to explore including a walled kitchen garden, the tower garden, rode garden and board walk up to the monument. During school holidays Tatton Park normall put on extra activities and trails on in the garden to make it even more interesting to visit. At Christmas this year was their first time it had been beautifully lit up by the team at Wild Rumpus to make a it magical Yuletide adventure.

Farm

Throughout the year the farm showcases how a working farm runs. They have lambs being born in spring, sheep dog demonstrations, staff doing talks and plenty of animals to meet. There is a woodland play area in the farm with lots of balance beams and stepping stones. In the summer there is also a maize maze. There is no cafe or anywhere to get a drink from in the farm. but you are allowed to take your own picnic.

Playground

The playground is a large area with a mixture of equipment for all ages. Some areas have been broken or removed for a while so this could definitely be improved on. There are some small fairground rides and a burger van and ice cream van normally parked next to the playground.

Parking

Even though Tatton Park is National Trust, everyone has to pay for parking. The car park is council owned. You can pre book your parking ahead of time to get 10% off. On a weekend if you don't pre book it is currently £8 a car (Feb 2024)
