Strawberry Picking at Delamere Farm Shop
Strawberry Picking at Delamere Farm Shop

Delamere Farm shop is a cute little shop on a working farm. Their Farm Shop sells their Home-Grown Produce including a wide range of vegetable, potatoes and Free Range eggs.

During the summer months they have Pick your Own Strawberries. The strawberries are normally ready from June and are some the best we have tasted.

Check out their Facebook page for when they are open for strawberries as sometimes they sell out of ripe ones.

Strawberry Picking at Delamere Farm Shop
£8 per kilo and are great quality

🍓If you want a perfect summers day activity for the whole family then strawberry picking is a fun and yummy thing to do. From little toddlers to grandparents, it is ideal for any age. My daughter was desperate to go strawberry picking ever since we went last year so when we had a free Saturday morning we heading over to Delamere Farm Shop.

In the strawberry field there is a gazebo where you could collect your empty punnets. It is 50p for a small plastic one which holds about 1kg when full. Or a larger basket was £1 which would hold 2-3kg.

The cost of the strawberries is £8 per kilo. Yes it is a bit dearer than the supermarket but you can control how much you spend as you can check the weight of your punnet at you pick. Plus it supports Cheshire Farmers which i personally love. We aimed for just over half of a small punnet, so we could eat them while freshly picked that day.

Enjoying our strawberries

In the field were rows and rows of strawberry plants. All on stands, so they were head height with branches hanging down laden with strawberries. We set off along the rows with the challenge to find the most perfect, ready to eat, strawberries.

Back at the gazebo, we popped our punnet on the scales. Our total was £4.90 including the punnet.

Picnic Area

After our strawberry picking we got out picnic out of the car and sat in their little picnic area. There is a trailor with a self service coffee machine which takes card payments. And there is a toilet.

This is right by the car park so it was perfect to leave your picnic in the car while you picked your strawberries.

We had a little look in the farm shop, it had lots of homegrown vegetables and free range eggs. Plus a good selection of fridge and dry store items which would be handy for local residence to use. They also had a large selection of plants and made up hanging baskets.

A great summer activity at Delamere Farm Shop
A great summer activity

Our final verdict

It was a nice activity which only lasted about an hour. By having our picnic there and enjoying some our strawberries as our pudding it was really lovely time out together and as we only spent £5 and we get to eat our strawberries it makes it a cheap activity too
