I love seeing snowdrops peeping out from cold hard ground. It signifies spring is coming and your garden is awakening for another year. Nature at it's best. A blanket of snowdrops, quickly followed by daffodils makes any walk even more beautiful.

See one of the finest displays of Snowdrops in the North at Rode Hall. Take the mile long walk in the Old Wood and marvel at the carpets of Snowdrops, then follow the path down by The Pool to catch a glimpse of the herons on Birthday Island.
Dogs on leads welcome.
Stop by the courtyard kitchen, complete with flaming woodburner selling delicious homemade soups, cakes, lunches and hot and cold drinks.

Entrance charge is £2.50, but is free to members of the Society. It is also free to RHS members all year round except October. If no one is present to receive the money, it may be put in the brick box at the entrance. Dogs on leads welcome.
18th Feb is Snowdrop Day. See the thousands of snowdrops planted by volunteers then enjoy tea & cake and a gardening quiz at the Swettenham Arms. £10 per member £15 per non member £5 per child. 2.30pm - 4pm

Dunham Massey is home to one of the largest winter garden's in the UK. From January to early spring there are different moments to treasure with thousands of bulbs emerging each year. Chosen for their form, colour, texture, scent, berry, bark, and sound, new plants awaken every few weeks, starting with early narcissus followed by snowdrops and then carpets of iris and scilla, crocus and chionodoxa. The brightly coloured stems of cornus and salix and the ethereal white trunks of birch trees bring colour and light to the coldest winter days.

Always a wonderful place to visit. Biddulph's Facebook page has been keeping us updated on their snowdrops and they started to emerge from the ground a couple of weeks ago.

Quarry Bank in Styal is one of the best preserved textile factories of the Industrial Revolution. It is both an interesting and stunning place to visit. With it's well kept gardens, woodland walks and small play area it makes a lovely family day out.
