Queens Park in Crewe Cheshire Playground
Queens Park in Crewe

Queens Park’s beautiful 45 acres, was dedicated, to the people of Crewe, in 1887, to mark the joint occasion of the Queen's Jubilee and the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Grand Junction Railway. The Park, being a gift to the town by the London & North Western Railway Co, was officially opened to the public in 1888.

Queens Park in Crewe has got everything you could wish for when after a park trip. It's a beautifully kept park with plenty of flower beds and trees, wide concrete paths perfect for bikes, scooters and pushchairs. There is a gorgeous lake with a bridge across to a island with a bench on to sit and take in the view.

We headed over on a Sunday afternoon with the scooters and a football and easily spent a few hours exploring and playing. The playground is a really good one with lots of really good equipment that even got one of my daughters to say " can we live near this park" 😀 After lots of swinging and sliding we had a family game of football shootout using the goal on the grass.

The paths are perfect for any wheels. Nice and wide, flat tarmac paths. There are plenty of paths too so you can easily get a good walk or ride in going right round the edge of the path which is about 2km around.

Playground

The playground has plenty of equipment for young and older children. It even has a swing for children in a wheelchair which I've never seen before. My girls really liked the range of things to play on. There are a few different climbing frames with nets and unusual things to test your skill. There are a number of swings, a roundabout and a really good zip wire. It nice when you find a good zipwire as some can often be broken or very stiff. But this was a great one and easy to pull back to the start with a special handle under the the seat.

Extra Activities

During the summer you can hire pedalos on the lake and have a game of pitch and putt just outside the cafe. I love the fact you can hire pedalos. It is £6 pp for the boats and £3 pp for the pitch n putt (May 24) They do family deals on these too.

Park Life at the Lakeside Pavilion is a lovely cafe in the centre of the park. It has good amount of indoor seating plus outdoor seating on a raised balcony overlooking the lake and the pitch n putt course. They have a counter full of cakes and sell 'Kellys' soft scoop ice cream plus a large fridge of Walls ice creams and lolllies too.
