Clever golf stick keep the score

Once you have arrived at Putters and checked in with staff at the desk, you head to a digital touch screen where you scan your barcode ready to play. The screen explains how to play crazy golf the tech infused way with a video, don't worry it's super easy. Enter your team members names, scanning your golf club so that club is now assigned to you. You can even have your photo taken so your face comes up on the score screens when your playing!

These aren't just normal golf clubs, these are filled with technology.

Well design courses with bright lights

There are three courses of 9 holes to choose from including Circus or Carnival theme. We chose to play two courses making it an 18 hole challenge. As you make your way round the course (and you don't even need to play the course in number order it's that high tech) the live scoreboards show each players points. It registers how many shots you took and if you managed to get any of the hidden bonus points. The screens are fun and full of animations and audio making every hole entertaining.

Interactive screen on each hole

You scan into each hole by placing your club on the signal sign, you can choose to play a normal hole or take a risk and choose to use one of your three "Double Points", where anything you score on that hole is doubled.

Each course is amazingly designed with holes ranging in difficultly. The aim of the game is still the same. Put your hole in the least amount of hits but with the opportunity to get extra points for alternative routes and its great fun to see what your team mates points are as you go rather than adding them up on that little piece of paper.

You got a couple of bonuses to use during your game too. You could scan to use a x2 bonus so if you then took a great shot you would double your point. But there is always a risk that you scan the bonus and then miss!

Our Final Verdict

We really enjoyed the golf at Putters. It was different to other adventure golf venues and the technology was really fun and took the game to another level. The girls liked the digital scoreboards as we could see who was winning as we went along. The bonuses you could play on the holes was really fun too, and put the pressure on to hit a great shot. The price for 18 holes is reasonable especially as it is super high tech. Urban Playground is a great place over all too. With the Butchers restaurant and the bar too it makes a great place to spend a few hours with family and friends.

Urban Playground Manchester is a fab place to visit for an adrenaline-fuelled, ultra-competitive day out. Located within Manchester Arndale, it brings together high-tech crazy golf, The Cube Live game with bars and big-name dining from gourmet burger brand The Butcher.

The Butcher

‘The Butcher’, the name says it all. The chefs choose to work only with the best quality meat: Aberdeen Angus beef thus committing to creating the ultimate burger. We had a great meal here while at Urban Playground.

The Butcher Manchester‘s menu is huge with twenty or so signature classics as well as burgers made with chicken or lamb, fish or even plant-based patties. There are luxurious ones with truffle glaze, as well as burgers inspired by various countries and cuisines. You can get wraps instead of buns, or even no buns at all for a lower carb option.

There is no children menu so we all ordered off the main menu.

Our order was

The Butcher Restaurant Urban Playground
The Butcher Restaurant

•Hot Chick -crispy chicken breast, lettuce, tom, onion, jalapeño and sriracha sauce (£10.70)

•Cow boy - beef burger with lettuce, tom, onion, bbq and jalapeño. (£10.20)

•Ugly with chicken - marinated chicken breast with lettuce, tom, jalapeño, sour cream & bbq sauce in a wrap. (£10.20)

•Butcher, plain beef burger with just lettuce (£89.95)

•2 fries (£4.45 each)

We just had soft thinks however the bar serves up some really interesting and indulgent milkshakes aswel as spirits, cocktails and beers.

The beef burgers were really thick and could tell were of a good quality Aberdeen Angus Beef. My crispy chicken was really tasty and my husband enjoyed his "Ugly". Luckily we were given little hand wipes as we did get rather messy hands but isn't that a sign of a good burger.
