Castle Park Frodsham

The North West is filled with lovely parks and playgrounds to play on and explore. Pack up a picnic, mask a flask and head to a playground with friends. During the summer months a visit to a park can be a cheap day out, maybe just paying for parking or an ice cream.




There is a Children’s Zoo, beautiful grounds that are perfect for picnics. There are woodland walks, flower beds and picturesque pond. Entertain the children for hours and hours at our fantastic, fully-accessible playground, play a round of Adventure Golf or Pitch ‘n’ Putt. Or book yourself on to the high ropes course. With the lovely Heritage Cafe.

🌳Sandbach Park

A beautiful public park located in the heart of Sandbach. The park contains traditional floral displays, as well as ornamental lawn areas. There are two playground areas, one for toddlers and one for older children. Other facilities include tennis courts, outdoor gym equipment, and a dedicated picnic area.

Queens Park is a 45-acre park with an ornamental lake, play area and outdoor gym as well as beautiful gardens to enjoy and toilets and Park Life cafe selling refreshments. There are plenty of paths to enjoy walking along with a pram. Pedalos and Pitch n Putt. They also have a weekly parkrun.

🌳Middlewich Park

Fountain Fields Park Middlewich provides an exciting park for young visitors and fitness enthusiasts. Located in the center of town is the large modern playground. The mixed play and green space includes a great range of play equipment such as an accessible roundabout, an adult gym, sensory garden and open space for picnics.

🌳Congleton Park

Another great park with a fantastic play area for kids. There are plenty of pram-friendly paths as well for you to enjoy walking around the park and beautiful gardens. Congleton park has a car park and is also only a 5-minute walk from the town centre. Facilities at the park include toilets and a cafe.

🌳Castle park, Frodsham

Another great park for family walks is Castle park in Frodsham. There is a free car park and an amazing play area. There is also a cafe, geocaching possibilities (find out more about geocaching with kids here) and three galleries to explore if you choose. The paths are all smooth and perfect for pushchairs. This is one of my favourite kids’ play areas in Cheshire. We love the wide range of wooden play equipment and large sand play areas. The photo below is only a small part of the playground.

🌳The Moor - Knutsford

This is a lovely large play area, duck pond and smooth walking paths, located near to the centre of Knutsford. There is a pay and display car park right next to it. We love the large duck pond, the play area having a lovely toddler area, fenced off from the main area and there are lots of picnic tables and bins too.


🌳Grosvenor park - Chester

Grosvenor Park is one of the finest examples of Victorian parks in the UK. Located between the city centre and the River Dee, it’s perfect for combining with a trip to Chester city centre. There are lots of pram friendly paths throughout and a wide range of activities such as the popular miniature railway, play area, cafe, open-air theatre and gardens.


🌳The Carrs Park - Wilmslow

The Carrs Park is a popular park to stop at during a walk along the River Bollin. The playground has swings, climbing structures, slides and some unusual seesaws. It's located next to the car park on Chancel Lane where you can also often find an ice cream van for refreshments. There is also a skateboard and football park, a basketball ring and free tennis courts!

Pennington Flash is one of the jewels in the crown of Wigan Borough. With a Beautiful Lake, Walks around the Nature Reserve, an amazing Adventure Playground and a Cafe. Parking is only £2.50 for all day. The playground has a large wooden climbing frame with spiral slide, plus lots of swings, rockers and balancing equipment.






🌳Haigh Woodland Park

Haigh has lots on offer, including a walled garden for pleasant walks and picnics, an adventure playground, adventure golf, crazy golf, foot golf and high ropes.

There is also a courtyard filled with a few different cafes and delis so a good choice of where to get lunch or a snack.

Carpark is £3.50 for all day

🌳Heaton Park

Heaton Park is a historic area on the edge of Manchester with all the attractions offering a full day out for all ages. Visit the play areas, cafes, Animal Centre, Tram Museum, bowling greens, golf course, boating lake, and try your hand at horse riding.

The main building offers a botanical garden with a fishpond, shops, art gallery, and the amazing Octagon Hall that houses all their large events.  There are several different places for refreshments, the Ice Cream Parlour, Pavilion Kitchen and Tea Rooms as well the Coffee Van, Kiosk and pop-up outlets. 23 acres of gardens to explore with a boating lake, miniature train, play areas, fountains and wildlife to see.

🌳Marbury Park - Northwich

The wide flat path around the Park takes you past the iconic line of trees of "Lime Avenue" through the woodland and around the wide open fields and then along Budworth Mere.

The play area has a good range of wooden things to keep the children entertained, all within a safe wooden fence and gate. An impressive wooden climbing frame with rock climbing wall, balancing ropes and nets. There is parking, toilets and a coffee van.

🌳The Quarry Park - Shrewsbury

The Quarry is Shrewsbury’s beautiful, 29-acre parkland, encircled by the majestic loop of the river Severn. There are beautiful gardens to explore, wide open spaces for picnics and free play. The playground has a good range of equipment and there is a splash zone which is open in the summer months with toilets.
