My Guide to the Best Afternoon Tea in Cheshire & Beyond
My Guide to the Best Afternoon Tea in Cheshire & Beyond

A delicious Afternoon Tea is the ultimate treat and there's lots of cafes, pubs and tearooms to choose from in Cheshire, from traditional handmade cakes at Jenny's Tearoom Sandbach to something a little bit different at The Rabbit Hole in Stoke.

I'm a bit of a fan of an Afternoon Tea, with the mixture of both savoury and sweet treats brought out the classic tiered stand with cute china tea cups of tea. I have been for my fair share of them so here is My Guide to the Best Afternoon Teas in Cheshire & Beyond

George & Dragon Afternoon Tea
George & Dragon Afternoon Tea

🍰George & Dragon Holmes Chapel

Homemade Cakes : great selection and very high quality homemade cakes, super fresh and yummy.

Scone Rating : 8/10 I loved how the double cream had been served as a quenelle which made it look so elegant. The scone has a slight crispy edge while lovely and soft in the middle.

Selection of Sandwiches : Interesting sandwiches and different from your standard options. A selection of breads as well as fillings.

Value for Money : £21.50pp/ £25pp with prosecco A dearer price but it matches the quality of food and service.

Decor and Ambiance : Lovely conservatory and friendly staff.

Overall Thoughts : It was absolutely delicious, all homemade and a delight for the taste buds. The whole experience was lovely. Sat in their sunny conservatory, sipping a prosecco. The selection of sandwiches and cakes were well put together, complimenting each other and made the whole experience wonderful

The Cobbles Tearoom Afternoon Tea
The Cobbles Tearoom Afternoon Tea

🍰The Cobbles Tearoom Holmes Chapel

Homemade Cakes : lovey selection of homemade cakes

Scone Rating : 7/10 come already with cream on with strawberries rather than jam.

Selection of Sandwiches : Simple finger sandwiches but plenty of them

Value for Money : £11 per person so a great price

Decor and Ambiance : Homely cafe in an Georgian town house with friendly staff

Overall Thoughts : The Cobbles is in my local village, they always serve up lovely home cooked food. Their afternoon tea isn't overly fancy or complicated but more tradition and at £11 each it is great value for money and a treat which doesn't have to be kept for a special occasion.

The Dunham Barn nr Altrincham Afternoon Tea
The Dunham Barn nr Altrincham

🍰The Dunham Barn nr Altrincham

Homemade Cakes : Their cakes are definitely homemade, the Lemon tart was my personal favourite and was gorgeous.

Scone Rating : 7/10 cream was really nice but prefer to add cream and jam myself.

Selection of Sandwiches : Simple finger sandwiches of ham & tomato and cheese & cucumber.

Value for Money : £15 (April 24) Spot on price wise

Decor and Ambiance : A rustic style in a barn but cute. Option to sit outside in the summer is an added bonus.

Overall Thoughts : Simple but yummy sandwiches with plenty of filling. The scones were to die for and that sweetened cream was heavenly. It was so nice to have different cake options that the usual you find on an afternoon tea. The lemon tart was a real game changer and I loved it.

Value for Money : Traditional – £24.95 (March 24) On the dearer side but so worth it as its that extra bit special

Decor and Ambiance : You literally travel down the rabbit hole and into the magical world of everything Alice in Wonderland. It's so beautiful. and everywhere you look there are tea cups, clocks and the little white rabbits making it such a whimsical place to visit.

Overall Thoughts : For any Afternoon Tea fan, the Rabbit Hole is an absolute must tea room. Everything about it from the gorgeously made food, the little cute details, and the friendly staff made it such a special and memorable experience.

Jenny's Tea Shop Xmas Afternoon Tea
Jenny's Tea Shop Xmas Afternoon Tea

🍰Jenny's Tea Shop Sandbach

Homemade Cakes : Lovely seasonal themed cakes, clever use of flavours and interesting selection with mini orange cheesecake

Scone Rating : 8/10 freshly made and massive

Selection of Sandwiches : A great selection of fillings and extra savoury items.

Value for Money : £22 for a Christmas afternoon tea is a good price and it was definity value for money.

Decor and Ambiance : The cafe is cute with traditional tea cups and decor.

Overall Thoughts : Everything was gorgeous. Each of us got our own three tier stand loaded full with the homemade Christmas googies. I simply couldn't fault any of it. The mixture of food on offer was done very well, and everything was made beautifully.
