Magical Woodland at Halloween
Magical Woodland at Halloween

Magical Woodland is set within the woods at Blakemere just outside of Northwich, Cheshire. For Halloween it has incredible decorations, stunning lights, and entertaining characters. The trail was filled with spooky touches—eerie music, creepy voices, and some fantastic live characters like Wednesday Addams, Beetlejuice, a Mad Scientist, and even dinosaurs and Batman! We also bumped into the Ghostbusters, Hocus Pocus witches, and Transformers. It was such an immersive experience with so much to see!

We had the pleasure of visiting this year’s Spooky Light Trail at Magical Woodland in Blakemere Village, and it was even better than last year!

(There is a Christmas one too, starting on 29th Nov)

⭐The light installations were as breathtaking as ever. Magical Woodland really goes all out, and you feel completely surrounded by lights as you wander through the woodland. Everywhere you look, there are dazzling displays, which makes the whole experience feel magical.

Grub in the Woods

🕷️The Halloween decorations were amazing. There were plenty of spiders, web and floating witches hats, plus the usual skeletons, pumpkins, and ghosts. But there were some unexpected surprises, like walking through the gates of Jurassic World into a dinosaur compound and even seeing superheroes like Superman, Spider-Man, and a real life Batman!

Out favourite thing about Magical Woodland is the live actors scattered throughout the woodland. My daughter adored the Mad Scientist, who had everyone laughing, and Wednesday Addams stayed perfectly in character, giving us that famous death stare. We got a fist pump off Batman and got to stroke a baby dinosaur. 🦖

An amazing Halloween Evening for all the family

🕛It is great how you can stay as long as you like and go around the trail twice if you want. We spent a over an hour wandering the trail and then treated ourselves to some yummy treats at the end inside Grub in the Woods. There was plenty to choose from burgers, jacket potatoes, chips, pizza, and the classic marshmallows to toast over the firepits. They also had hot and cold drinks, including delicious🍵 hot chocolate and mulled wine (although it’s a bit early in the year for that for me!). 🍩

🥾The path was well-kept and dry, so trainers worked perfectly. It’s also very pushchair-friendly, with wide, flat paths, and there are toilets about halfway around, just after the light tunnel.

🎃Overall, it was a fantastic evening, and we left with big smiles on our faces. We can’t wait to go back for the Christmas trail, which starts on November 29th! If you're looking for a fun, family-friendly event, this is definitely one to check out.
