Christmas Light Trail at Blakemere in Northwich.

Magical Woodland at Christmas
Magical Woodland at Christmas

The Magical Woodlands at Christmas is a magical light trail through the woods at Blakemere in Northwich.

We only just visited at Halloween but had to go back for their gorgeous Christmas light trail.

This magical Christmas outdoor experience is spread over a 15 acre woodland & is filled with pretty fairy lights, strobe lights & projectors alongside Christmas music. You'll also be greeted by an incredible lineup of beloved characters,

Magical Woodland at Christmas is one of my favourite Christmas lights I have been to. As it's over a smaller area, the lights feel more compact. The path weaves back and forth so you can see previous lights and the next set of lights at the same time. No areas of just darkness like other larger displays I've visited so definitely bonus.

Beautifully lit of pirate ship

The lights used were very imaginative and really created a great atmosphere.

What makes Magical Woodland different from other trails is their characters dotted through the woods. My girls were delighted to turn a corner and find themselves in Whoville. We found a real-life Cindy Lou who was so sweet talking to all the children individually. She started to warn us about the Grinch stealing present when out he popped from his cave. The Grinch was grumpy while being funny and a nice addition to the evening.

The actors were great with little one, we also found Tinkerbell on a beautifully lit up pirate ship.

Along the trail there are plenty of photo ops to get those special memories from your visit. Including fairy wings and the biggest tunnel of lights I've seen. The Magical Woodland always has its resistent owls on show. We enjoy seeing these each time we visit as they are fascinating creatures.

Towards the end there was a small stage with seating & a cute little show with Santa and an Elf. This runs throughout the evening in intervals, and right at the end, you can meet Mrs Claus, who shares heartwarming tales with all our visitors!

Plenty of yummy treat at Grub in the Wood

"Grub in the Woods" was nice to find at

the end of the trail. There was a good choice of food, including burgers, hot dogs, chips and pizza, waffles, or a stick loaded with marshmallows to toast on the open firepits.

Hot and cold drinks were also available. We got some chips with some amazing curry sauce on, a hot chocolate and a stick of marshmallows to roast.

I was also pleased to see that more tables and chairs had been added since Halloween too as this was definitely needed.

With unlimited opportunities to re explore your favourite areas you can stay for as long as you like! We really took advantage of this and spent 2 hours walking around the light trail and enjoying some treats at the end.

The path was nice and dry, so trainers were fine. It's also very suitable for pushchairs. The route is about 1 mile long.
