Inside the Ferry to take you to the island

The amazing Jurassic gates

We stepped on board the ferry and set sail. There was a video to watch as we travelled which talked about the island experience we were about to encounter and built up the anticipation for the next part of the adventure.

Jurassic World The Exhibition Manchester
Majestic Brachiosaurus

The doors of the ferry opened and we stepped out and i just stood there with a massive smile on my face. The iconic Jurassic gates stood in front of us. Just between the arch you could see the long neck and head of the first dinosaur. Towering up to the sky was the majestic Brachiosaurus. Slowly swaying and moving, it was so realistic for a few seconds you actually forget its not real.

In fact, how all the dinosaurs move in the exhibition is amazing. These aren't just your low cost moving a head dinosaurs. Every part of their body moves with such realistic tendencies. You can see why the Jurassic World Exhibition has been touring for so long and has visiting so many places. The fact that the experience is designed and managed by Universal Studios and Neon gives you a clue to how breathtaking it is.

Jurassic World Exhibition Manchester Review
Triceratops and baby were so realistic

Just round the corner from the Brachiosaurus, you will meet a huge Triceratops with it's baby. This shows the sheer scale of the beasts that once walked the Earth.

If you have a dinosaur fact fan in your family then they will love the information stations. These electronic boards show details and facts about the dinosaurs in each area.

The first area has 3 sections which you can move around at your own pace. Make sure you take your time to see everything. Once you move through a closed door you cant go back. So my TOP TIP is to not to rush. Read the information boards, have a dig in the sand for fossils and get lots of photos of the dinosaurs.

Meet baby dinosaurs

Young guest will love getting to meet a number of baby dinosaurs carried by rangers inside the exhibition, including "Bumpy" from the popular animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous which is on Netflix.

They can also get their hands on a range of fossils and bones in a special dig area.

Safely behind electrified gates
Jurassic World Exhibition Manchester Velociraptor
Watch a Velociraptor training session

As we waited by the first closed door we were briefed by a Dinosaur Handler about the next section. We were going into a secure area where we would be able to see a training session of Blue the Velociraptor. As we went through the door we were luckily on the other side of a compound, electrified fence. Blue came out with his trainer and we were impressed to see how obedient she was. But we had to remember one wrong move and it could be a different story.

Ankylosaur with armoured skin

The next section we got to meet yet another enormous dinosaur. This time, an Ankylosaur which is one of the armored dinosaurs, with a sledgehammer-like tail club capable of delivering a bone-cracking blow.

Gyrosphere

I was personally very pleased to find one of the sphere transportation vehicle from the Jurassic World films as a prop you could sit in. The Gyrosphere took tourists through Gyrosphere Valley which was meant to be a safe way to see the dinosaurs. A great photo op for keen fans.

Jurassic World Exhibition Manchester
T-Rex was scary and amazing

Warning ⚠

The final section is quite startling and dramatised. You go into the T-REX compound. The staff are looking worried and talking on their walkie talkies about a power outage! You really do get really caught up in the story and rushed just meters from the giant T-Rex to safety. Make sure you take photos as soon as your in this section as it doesn't last long and was definitely my favourite bit.

Jurassic World Exhibition Manchester
Massive gift shop at end of exhibition

At the end of the exhibition, there is a gift shop packed with Jurassic World branded merchandise like t-shirts, posters and cuddly teddies of the dinosaurs you have met.

I was lucky to be invited for their press morning the day before the event officially opening. However, all feedback and thoughts are my own and of my children.
