Adlington Golf Centre is on the outskirts of Macclesfield in Cheshire. It is a golf centre with a difference as they want everyone to be able to come and enjoy their facilities with out the usual golf rules. It has two different golf courses, a 41 bay driving range, Footgolf and a brand new Australian Adventure Golf Course.

⚽ A Game of Footgolf at Adlington Golf Centre
We collected our balls from reception and walked over to enjoy a kick about with a difference.
It is only a 5minute walk to the Academy Golf Course which is used by both golfers and footgolfers! It seemed a bit strange at first but it is a good alternative use of the course, but you just have to take extra care you look out for flying golf balls.
There are two holes on each green. One for golf balls with a yellow flag and a much bigger hole with a white flag for footballs.
We started our game with an attempt at a massive kick to get the ball right up towards the hole, this was a little harder than we imagined and it took us quite a few kicks to get in on the green.
I had taken my girls for a game after school during the week so it was actually really quiet and there was only one other family of the course. This meant we didn't have to wait for anyone and also didn't feel rushed as there was no one behind us.
Me and the girls had such a fun time. Non of us were very good, but it was great fun attempting to kick the ball to where we wanted it to go. I must admit the balls landed in the sand bunker and in the odd bush more than once but this just added to the fun and giggles we were having. At one point my daughter took about 10 kicks to get it out of the sand bunker!
There are 9 holes on the Academy course and non of the holes had a massive distance. At each hole there is a stone with a plaque on to let you know the distance to the hole such as 75yards and what the par is.
You got a little scoring card to keep track of the number of hits, similar to an adventure golf course and of course this made it a little competition between us. It took us about 45 minutes to play our game and then we went back to reception to look at the driving range.
⛳ Hitting Balls on the Range at Adlington Golf Centre
Adlington Golf Centre has a large range in their centre, with 41 bays of which 35 are covered. It uses Trackman Technology to keep track of the speed and distance of your balls. It is a great activity for beginners to learn how to stand and improve your shot. But also for pro golfers for improving their game.
The girls and I got 100 balls to hit. We first had a go on the normal range. In each bay was an area to load up each ball on to a tee and to take a swing, to blast it off onto the grass in front of you. The area is covered and has flood lighting so you can play what ever the weather and even into the evening.
We were invited to try out the private studio. Now this was something else. A wooden chalet type room with leather sofas, its own lighting, a massive god know what size tv with Trackman displaying and a separate computer screen to choose what activity you would like do.
We loved it in here. The girls could choose to play games using the Trackman. They aimed at parked cars to win points and then hit their balls into a lake with islands and if they hit a piece of land they collected an animal. This really grabbed their attention and were loving the interaction between the screen and where they made the ball land on the real grass outside.
The studio would be great to hire for a small group as its easier to socialise in with the seating and how private it is. It is only £7.50 per hour to hire which seems reasonable too.
We did this activity as an after school treat and it worked perfectly. A couple of hours at Adlington Golf Centre hitting balls on the range and playing footgolf was a great way to get the kids out into the fresh air and us having fun together.
Food & Drinks
