A stunning Christmas Lights trail at the National Trust site of Biddulph Grange near Congleton.
Wow, this actually was my favourite light trail of this Christmas. It was totally stunning and atmospheric.
I made it to the last evening of Biddulph Grange Festive Nights. I had seen some pictures from people who had visited and it looked great so I made the last-minute decision to go along. Luckily, you could just pay on the gate on the last evening rather than pre booking.
I brought along my sister in law as she loves Biddulph as much as me. At £12 each, i didn't think it was that expensive, but to then get a hot drink voucher for the cafe included made this a really reasonable event.
The light trail was full of colourful lights, shining up onto the trees and bushes in a rainbow of colour. It truly was stunning. Small tea lights were placed inside the tunnels, making them magical to walk through.
It was a great use of lighting using the natural features of Biddulph.
One thing that had a real wow factor, was how the fossil gallary was lit up. It was lined with the soft glow of lanterns, which made it both eerie and mesmerizing.
Towards the end of the route, you come to the lake at the front of the house. Looking out over the water to the lit up trees on the other side was beautiful. The reflections in the water were fantastic. There were some ducks on the water, but apart from that, it was a completely still and carm setting. No music to distract you from its beauty.
The path around the gardens was clearly marked by ropes and signs, and there was plenty of friendly and helpful staff to guide you around.
After our gorgeous walk, we headed to the cafe to get our free drink. We both got a fully loaded hot chocolate and then walked it round to sit in the drawing room. Again, this room blew me away. This is a grand room anyway, but it had the added bonus of an impressive decorated Christmas tree sitting right next to a real open fire. There were tables filled with board games to play. It was very nice and cosy after a cold winter walk.
