We had a fun day in Blackpool in April. We set off along the promenade with the Elmer app ready on my phone. With ease, we found our first Elmer. Bright and colourful against the sea in the background. We found the 4 digit code and entered it into the app. Woooooo our first one collected. just 70 more to go!
We walked around collect Elmer's for a few hours, interspersed with having lunch, walking along the North and South Pier and the children going on some rides. We collected just 16 on this visit but i cant wait to go back again before June to collect some more.
We visited Elmer HQ on Victoria street. I bought a paper trail map for £1 as a keep sake and a keyring. It is great that all the money raised from the trail is going to the Brian house Children's Hospice. I wish them all the best.
There are 30 large Elma structures dotted mainly along the promenade and a further 41 smaller Elmer's inside shops for you to find.
The 30 uniquely decorated Elmer's have been painted by talented artists from all over the uk. They are all so brightly coloured and fun. Their designs tie in to where they are located. My favourite had to be the one at the base of Blackpool tower which had been designed like a piece of iconic Blackpool rock. Cutting Elmer in half to reveal the inside of the rock was so imaginative. These large Elmer's around the streets of Blackpool form the biggest-ever public art trail the town has seen, running for eight weeks.
The younger Elmer's have been painted by local schools and youth organisations. These Elmer's are located inside of shops and businesses.

The trail celebrates Blackpool’s history, its tourism heart, its culture and the many areas of natural beauty reminding the people of Blackpool why its such a fab place to live. You can do the trail your way – you might want to dip in and out of areas over the eight weeks, spend a weekend completing the trail, or if you are feeling energetic, do it all in a day

Trail Map
Elmer’s Big Parade Blackpool is open to everyone. It is fully-accessible and the organisers hope that as many people as possible will explore all or parts of the trail.
The paper trail map is perfect for children to use. The map is really simple, making it easy to understand where the elephants are hiding. The map is available at key town centre locations across Blackpool including the Elma dedicated pop-up shop
Trail App
Elmer’s Big Parade Blackpool will include a FREE art trail app to show you the location of each Elmer and the herds of small Elmer's, along with information about our Official Partners, Sponsors and artists.
It is really easy to use. The gps tracks where you are on the map and shows you where the Elmer's are. When you find one there is a 4 digit code on the base which you can enter into the app to say you have found/collected it.
The app keeps track of the ones you have found and gives you information about each one.
Event
When their time in Blackpool has ended, the Herd will join together for one time only for a special final farewell weekend in June. On 22nd & 23rd June.
