For me, Dunham Massey Lights are the one and only original Christmas lights. Starting back in 2017, when we visited when my girls were so small and light trails were a brand new concept. It is the classic when it comes to Christmas lights, with beautiful light installations, fabulous tor tapping Christmas music, Food and Drink stalls and traditional fairground rides.

✨ A magical trail with new lights for 2024
🌎 Dunham Massey, Altrincham WA14 4SJ
Some of their magical features include:
🎈 Hot air balloons floating amongst ancient trees.
🌈 Bright, colourful tunnels match the petals of the rose garden.
🏠 Projections on the house bring new light to the historic brickwork.
🎶 Installations and memory-worthy moments fill the gardens, all curated to new and known Christmas music
If you are after something to get you into the Christmas mood, then this is it!
It was jam-packed with Christmas decorations, and oh my word, the songs and music playing made us basically dance around the gardens.
It was just me and my youngest, and we had a brilliant time. She was twirling and skipping along the lit up trail, and i was there following her, singing along with Mariah and Buble'
Our absolute favourite was the massive star tunnel. I had never seen anything like it, and we spent ages in here taking photos and dancing to the perfectly chosen "A Sky Full Of Stars" song
At the end of the star tunnel was the classic Dunham Massey house with the big lit up letters, which reflected back into the water, making it a great sight and a popular place for grabbing yet another photo
Each light installation was amazing, at Dunham they really do go all out with big features and so many lights. Each section had its own theme and a board up naming the display. Each section had some very well chosen songs which partnered with the lights is such a fantastic way. But i mean it is put together by Sony Music so the music had to be done very well didn't it!
Dunham Massey is famous for its "Cathedral of Lights" tunnel. This is so striking, but always so busy. My top tip for getting a good photo is go half way along, stand nearer one side. The photographer dips down low, taking a photo pointing upwards more to capture lots of the tunnel.
The finale of the trail is back at the front of the Dunham Massey house. There is an amazing projection of lights on the ancient brick work. Again, partnered with some powerful music that finished the evening perfectly
Food & Drink
At the start/end of the trail there is a hub of food and drink stalls, plenty of seating and some Victorian fairground rides. There are plenty of options to grab a burger, pizza, crepes, hot chocolate and beers
