Cholmondeley Castle is nestled within historic parkland with 70acres of beautiful gardens offering magnificent displays through the seasons and are filled with colour and botanical delights. The stunning castle is located at the highest point of the gardens, which surrounds and castle along with woodland. The garden Includes a rose garden, an arboretum and a temple garden and a couple of ponds which have interesting wooden bridges across to islands with medal artwork on.
We had a lovely visit to Cholmondeley Castle Gardens this weekend. There was a special plant fair on on Sunday so tickets were half price for the fair and entry into the gardens.
Plant Fair
The plant fair had about 25-30 stalls selling a large range of plants, furniture and garden accessories and were very reasonably priced so we bought some interesting fruit trees and popped these back in our car before heading to the gardens.
The Hunters Plant Fairs are a brilliant way to visit new gardens for less. check out their website for their locations throughout the year.

It's a stunning castle location at the highest point of the gardens. With a beautiful garden and woodland surrounding the castle. Including a rose garden, an arboretum and a temple garden and a couple of ponds which have interesting wooden bridges across to islands with medal artwork on.
In the centre of the estate is a cafe with toilets. It has a large menu including hot and cold meals and even an afternoon tea box you can order to collect and have it as a picnic in the garden.
The castle holds a number of events weekly including yoga and a family fitness Saturday where you can run, cycling or outdoor swim on the grounds.
For Children
The children's play area is situated by the Mere close to the picnic area with its fabulous views of the Mere and the castle.
Situated in the long grass area behind the disabled car park there is a “natural” play area. An exciting space for little ones to explore and ignite the imagination, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Cholmondeley wildlife.
Here is some history of the castle.
The Cholmondeley family have lived on these lands since Norman times, with the castle built in the early 19th century by the 1st Marquess. Nestled within historic parkland our 70acres of beautiful gardens offer magnificent displays through the seasons and are filled with colour and botanical delights. The first member of the family to take the name was Robert de Cholmondeley; he became the 1st Lord of Cholmondeley in about 1200. However little is recorded about the actual Cholmondeley houses between 1066 and 1571.
