🌼 The Gardens
The gardens are the real star of the show. With sweeping lawns, tranquil lakes, and a wide variety of flowers and plants, there's something new to admire at every turn. The Rose Garden is a particular highlight, bursting with color and fragrance in the summer months. The Temple Garden provides a more serene atmosphere, while the Lavinia Walk offers a picturesque route lined with seasonal blooms.


If you're a fan of wildlife, the gardens are home to plenty of birds, butterflies, and even the occasional deer. The combination of water features, woodland areas, and carefully curated flower beds creates an environment that feels both natural and enchanting.

🏰 The Castle & Surroundings
Although the castle itself is not open to the public, it serves as a dramatic backdrop to the gardens. Its fairytale-like turrets and grand architecture add to the charm of the estate. Visitors can explore the parkland, which includes a lakeside children’s play area and a cosy tearoom.

🥪 Tea Room
After a long stroll, the Tea Room is the perfect place to relax with a cup of tea and a homemade treat. The café offers light lunches, delicious cakes, and locally sourced ingredients. You can even order an afternoon tea box to collect and have it as a picnic in the garden. There is a picnic area available if you prefer to bring your own food too.

The children's play area is situated by the Mere. It a safe and enclosed area with wooden swings, climbing frame and slide. There are a number of picnic tables where families can sit and enjoy a picnic and the views over the mere while their children play.

History of the Castle.
The Cholmondeley family have lived on these lands since Norman times, with the castle built in the early 19th century by the 1st Marquess. Nestled within historic parkland our 70acres of beautiful gardens offer magnificent displays through the seasons and are filled with colour and botanical delights. The first member of the family to take the name was Robert de Cholmondeley; he became the 1st Lord of Cholmondeley in about 1200. However little is recorded about the actual Cholmondeley houses between 1066 and 1571.
