We have been visiting Castaway Play for a number if years as even though my children are now the top age range for visited they still really enjoy spending hours and hours here. We visited on an inset day on the last day of the summer holidays with my 9 year old daughter and her 10 year cousin. They spent 4 hours non stop playing and we only left as has to get back so they would have stayed longer!
The different areas and equipment make it a really varied play centre. It isn't just the normal soft play areas but sand and water play, adventure play where you need your shoes on, games and activities and then plenty of wooden climbing frames and slides.
Every wall is decorated, with either brightly colours walls, pictures of films and characters or painted murals. It is such a fun and brightly decorated play centre and everything was clean and tidy. It was a pleasure to visit and the girls really enjoyed their day playing together and even i joined in. We had a good game of hide and seek where i struggled to find them as there are so many good places to hide.
Tropical Beach
There is an "outside" beach area which is covered so even though can be a bit cold in there, even if it rains you wont get wet. There is a massive sandy area with 60 tonnes of sand to dig and play in. Spades and racks are provided which is a bonus. You can play pirates with little wooden boats to climb inside with telescopes and steering wheels. There are slides galore and a massive deck chair to capture memories of your visit.
Castaway Cove
The pirate theme continues inside Castaway Cove. This is the perfect place for little pirates to explore the HMS Castaway Pirate Ship and have a go at panning for gold in the Castaway Creek.
Put on a high vis jacket and hard hat and have a go in the construction play area with lots of building bricks.
There are ride on quad bikes (these have an extra costs) and even another massive sand pit. Little ones have not been forgotten about either as there is a great soft play area for under 2s in this area as well.
The Lost Jungle
Head into the world of the jungle and dinosaurs. Explore the huge jungle slide, where you can climb up the steps, run across the bridge and down the other side. Along the way there are activity boards on the walls and musical instruments to play. Play pretend camping in the wooden tipis and play the big bongo drums. This area is great for older children, lots to climb on and run about. There is a foam ball shooter where you have to try hit a dinosaur in the face and even a rock climbing wall. There is just so many things in this area, i kept finding something new every time i walked around.
Magical Kingdom
Castaway’s world for imaginative play which is perfect for younger children. With a circus themed small soft play, tunnels and things to climb on. Slides and even a disco room. This is a massive area full of different activities and things to explore. There is an under 2 play area in this section too plus again loads and loads of tables and chairs for parents.
Sensory Room
Nestled within the heart of Castaway Play is the Space Sensory Room. Offering an enchanting retreat for both adults with additional needs and children who have physical disabilities or autism. This environment is tailored to stimulate and calm sensory experiences in a magical setting that transports its occupants into the cosmos. Stepping into the sensory room, you are immediately met with visual displays of space-themed ultra-violet wall murals.
This sanctuary is the perfect haven for a child overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the main play rooms, offering a peaceful respite that stimulates and soothes in equal measure. It’s also a great choice for younger children under three, or for those with additional needs of any age, providing a unique environment that can be adapted to their individual sensory needs. For an additional £10 for a 30-minute session, the Space Sensory Room provides an invaluable experience, well worth the investment for the comfort and enjoyment of the child.
SEN Sessions
Castaway Play out on plenty of SEN sessions throughout the year. Please check their website or socials for dates.
Children who can become overwhelmed by loud noise and crowds are able to enjoy quieter sessions with caring and understanding staff.
