Biddulph Grange Country Park is right next door to the National Trust site of Biddulph Grange Gardens. The 73 ache park includes a beautiful woodland with a meandering stream, open meadows, a central lake and the Obelisk Walk to a cave.
Biddulph is just outside Congleton, Cheshire and it makes a great place for a family walk stopping in at "The Hideaway" cafe afterwards.

Take the path through the trees and walk along the stream which is definitely my favourite part of the place. The stream weaves through the trees with so many small waterfalls, it really is a beauty spot. within the woodland there are lots of dens which have been build by it's many visitors. My children love adding to the dens and playing inside them using their imagination.
Heading out of the woodland you will find the central lake where you can feed the ducks and find the stone boat house. The path leads you around the lake and to the 450 meter Obelisk Walk. At the far end is a cave, but you have to walk up the semi steep incline to reach it. Little legs will easily manage it and the cave is quite cool and eerie when you get there. At the other end of the Obelisk walk you can see sneak a peek through the boundary gate of Biddulph Grange to see the Urn and gardens on the other side.
A bit of History
The park was originally part of the estate of Biddulph Grange, and was designed in the Victorian era and early 20th century.
Biddulph Grange has been Grade 1 listed since 1984, and the Country Park forms part of that listing.
The stone boat house was built in 1904, and is attached to the large central lake.
There is a Grade II listed ornamental bridge on the Himalayan walk in the park.
Food & Drink
The park has a visitor centre, with a cafe called "The Hideaway", it is a nice little cafe and a real benefit to the park. It serves sandwiches, toasties and paninis, cakes, small snacks and drinks. One one of our visits we went inside to warm up after our wintery walk. My daughter got a chocolate brownie and a children's hot chocolate and i got a tea. There is also a fridge full of Snugbury's ice cream which will be lovely to have in the summer months. It was a lovely place to warm up and a cake and drink after a walk is always a nice treat. The cafe is also dog friendly.
