Audley Climbing Centre is a family-friendly indoor climbing centre in Audley, Staffordshire, just a short 5 min drive from junction 16 of the M6. They offer multiple climbing walls, courses, and events for all ages and abilities.
All of their instructors hold full first aid certification with enhanced DBS checks in place. As well as AALA & AAIAC they also hold the Learning Outside the Classroom Award. We are accredited to deliver NICAS levels 1, 2 & 3. So you are in safe hands.

As it was our first time at the centre we were advised to book an instructed session. This is great for beginners and perfect if you are in a group of like minder friends or siblings wanting to learn to climb together. The first person is £22 for an hour and then each additional person is £11.
We arrived early for our session and while we waited I filled in the consent forms online. Once that was done the instructor got us to remove any loose clothing and jewellery, then talked through some safety points. We got our harnesses on and were taken to the first wall.
Having an instructed session means the instructor will set the climbing to each participant's ability so all ages and abilities will be encouraged to climb at a level that suits them.
Our instructor was great, she was fun and encouraging, with hints and tips of how to climb the walls. When the walls got trickier she suggested ways of maneuvering yourself higher.
At Audley Climbing Centre they use a belaying system which is the act of exerting tension on a climbing rope to counterbalance the climber when they fall. The instructor is your partner when climbing so is always at the other end of your rope. When you were ready to come down, you held on to the rope with both hands, lent back and walked down while she took your weight. She made you feel safe and filled me with confidence when she was working with both my daughters and myself while we climbed.
The staff didn't rush you through your session and we finished on a great activity. One of the walls lead you to a large structural beam which is part of the building. If you made it to the top of the wall you could go and stand on the beam and do a dance. My eldest daughter absolutely loved this challenge and was so pleased she achieved it. Climbing can really boost confidence.
Other Sessions Available
Girl only climbing "This Girl Can" sessions every Wednesday so that you can come and try out indoor climbing, meet like-minded people, and push your boundaries in a safe and comfortable environment.
Children's Climbing Courses. The sessions are for children aged 4+ and include full instruction and your children can either climb for fun or work towards their NICAS Level 1 qualification
Independent Climbing sessions. You will need to have at least 2 members in your group to enable belaying and they must be over 18.
NICAS Sessions. What better way to spend your free time than working towards a NICAS climbing qualification? You can get your NICAS levels 1, 2 & 3 with us here at Audley Climbing Centre.
Children's Birthday Parties. Which includes an hour's climbing session., 30 minutes in our party room - entrance via the secret tunnel, buffet or packed lunch & party bag.
During the School Holidays they run special priced events for children.
Whether it is an afternoon in the week or one of their weekend slots, their 2 hour climbing sessions are just what you need to keep your children active no matter what the weather! Just £11 they will enjoy a range of different climbs and games.
The sessions are suitable for 4 - 16 year olds!
Times:
Monday - Friday: 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm.
Saturday & Sunday: 11 am - 1 pm.
They do themed sessions too so their Easter Holidays sessions will have Easter Eggs Hidden in the walls which you have to climb up and find. A great incentive.
