A little bit of luxury and fizz as I visited the beautiful Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa on a Friday afternoon for their traditional Afternoon Tea.
The hotel resort is just outside Macclesfield, Cheshire and is well-known throughout the north-west of England for their championship 18-hole golf course, along with one of the most unique health and wellness experiences in the area, BAZAAR Spa. You can enjoy being pampered in one of their treatment rooms, or relax in their amazing looking outside infinity pool, steam room or whirlpool spa – all housed in what was a Salesian chapel.
My sister in law and I went to experience their traditional afternoon tea. It is a lovely treat while visiting the hotel and spending the day at the spa. It's also the perfect excuse to meet up with friends for a relaxing afternoon of eating, drinking and catching up.

We sat down in their restaurant at our perfectly laid out table for two. The room is gorgeous, in the area we were sat in everything was a dusky pink, with red roses on the table and crisps white linen.
Straight away we had our drink order taken for two classes of fizz, our coffees would come a bit later to have with the cake layer.
What's on the 3 tiered stand:

We got a selection of classic crust off finger sandwiches. Ham, egg mayo and smoked salmon, with 4 and a half fingers each it was just a nice amount of sandwiches before we moved on to the sweet treats.
We got 3 little cakes on the top tier which included a macaroon, a jam sponge cake and rocky road. Although these were small in size they were gorgeous in flavour. You could tell the sponge was fresh and so light and that rocky road was amazingly chocolaty.

To finish, we got a beautifully handmade scone. Again you could tell these were made fresh and were incredible soft and a pleasure to eat. Of course we loaded it up with strawberry jam and clotted cream which made it even more easy to devour.
It was a lovely delicate afternoon tea. Everything was freshly made and the flavours were moreish, especially the chocolaty rocky road. It wasn't over indulgent, it dainty and just right! We easily finished everything on the stand which chatting a away in the elegant setting.

Shrigley Hall is in Macclesfield which is in a great location to explore the surrounding area. We actually did a lovely walk in Bollington before we arrived but there is also the National Trust Lyme Park near by and Macclesfield Forest.
