It's easy to spend a couple of hours here. We spent some time wondering around the gardens and into the woodland for a nice walk. The private house is stunning with ivy wrapped around it's walls.

There are some benches dotted around the gardens so you can sit and take in the view over the Cheshire countryside.

Abbeywood is also a fantastic wedding venue with a gorgeous conservatory for the service and the gardens acting as a back drop for your memorable day.

Then my 9 year old enjoyed playing in the children play area. Last year they relocated and improved their play area. This is now in a large grassy area near the kitchen garden. There are a few climbing frames, swings and a trampoline.

You can spot different animals on your walk.

There are a few horses, goats, sheep and an enclosure with chickens.

Their Garden Café has plenty of seating in their glasshouse, orangery and cafe or you can sit outside on the terrace and in the Rose Garden. Anywhere you sit you will get beautiful views of the gardens. It serves lunches, homemade cakes and drinks. To book a table in the cafe call 01606 889477.

I got in free with my RHS Membership which is a great bonus.
